Old Theater like The ETC in Galveston

Catch Me If You Can comes to Galveston, TX for a month this summer. This?true story of Frank Abagnale Jr. captivated the entire world. The story was told in Book, Broadway Play, and Featured Film. Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks take us on an around the world chase in the film version. Leonardo plays an amazing con man while Tom is an FBI agent chasing him.

Before the age of 21, Frank Abagnale Jr. successfully passed himself off as a Doctor, Lawyer, and an Airline Pilot. He did this not just to strangers, but to Industry Officials as well. Somewhere along the way he figures out how to forge all kinds of checks and now money is no object. This true story is so outrageous that it is difficult to believe. It is true, and it is wildly entertaining, and exciting. Frank Abagnale Jr. has such an engaging personality that you find yourself cheering for him in all of his efforts to con people.

Catch Me If You Can Showings;

The Island ETC (East-End Theater Company) is presenting Catch Me If You Can in its Musical Form. The upbeat 1960’s music will take you back in time. The ETC is celebrating it’s 14th season. They are located at 2317 Mechanic, Galveston, TX. Their phone number is 409.762.3556.

Performances are Thursday, Friday, & Saturday evenings at 8:00 PM from July 15, 2016 through August 13,02016. Sunday August 7, 2016 is the only Matinee and will be held at 2:30 PM.

The story is so intriguing and compelling that I can not wait to see this production. I thought the movie was fun, fast paced, and quite delightful. The Frank Abagnale Jr. story is much like Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid,?in that you wanted him to succeed. Add the high octane music of the 60’s and you have a great evening of entertainment. In case you haven’t seen the movie I won’t tell you how it ends. Go see for yourself. If you need a place to stay Contact Marilyn at 281.773.4210 for help!

TOMMY by The Who is an iconic Rock Opera that shaped the face of Rock and Roll for decades.?TOMMY by The Who, comes to Galveston Island all of?March 2016. March 4th through April 2nd to be exact. Tommy by The Who;

  1. Has sold over 20 million albums since its release in 1969.
  2. Is ranked by Rolling Stone Magazine as the 96th Best Album of all time.
  3. Was created primarily by Peter Townshend, however other band members of The Who, Keith Moon, Roger Daltrey, & John Entwistle?also contributed to the final product as we know it today.
  4. Was the fourth studio album of this British Rock Group that established themselves in 1964.
  5. Is a Rock Opera about a deaf, dumb, and blind boy named Tommy who went on to become a “Pinball Wizard”. The Opera also deals with the relationship of Tommy with his family and his experiences with life.
  6. Became Peter Townshend’s dream of creating something more that a “Pop Single”. He wanted to make an impact and a musical statement. TOMMY clearly went far beyond the bands wildest dreams. The Who have been impacting the music, ?and concert scene around the World for fifty-two (52) years.

The Who always wanted to make music that they could easily duplicate on stage and at concerts. The wanted their fans to hear in a “Live”?performance what they heard on the radio or from their albums. Stage performances was what drove The Who. They were not studio musicians by any stretch of the imagination. The studio was merely a means to create popular music so they could go out on Tour and perform on stage for their fans. Music from The Who and TOMMY can be heard on Rock Radio everyday. They have performed at half-time of The Super Bowl. And their music is used today as Theme music for several popular Television Series Shows. The Who even appeared at the most famous Rock Concert of all times, “Woodstock”. TOMMY by The Who, the legend lives on!
