Moody Gardens Ice Land is a family friendly event. It is a Holiday extravaganza to be sure. Moody Gardens Ice Land is so cool that your children and grandchildren will want to come back. It is open to the public for eight weeks, so you will have many opportunities for a return visit. The official Grand Opening of Moody Gardens Ice Land 2016 is scheduled for Saturday, November 12, 2016. It will run through Sunday, January 8, 2017.

Galveston is not expected to have freezing temperatures during this event so our clever friends at Moody Gardens have constructed a Tent Structure. Within this 28,000 square foot facility, the ambient air temperature will be lowered to and maintained at a very chilly 9 (nine) degrees. That’s right 9 (nine) degrees. This frigid temperature is required to maintain the Ice Sculptures, Slides, and other special outdoor Winter activities. For this reason we are alerting you to bring the appropriate clothing.

You and your children are going to want to stay for several hours. Maybe most of the day! So come prepared to stay warm and comfortable. You don’t want to get cold and be forced to leave early because you are uncomfortably cold. Plan ahead! Take care of yourself and your children or grandchildren. Bring Winter Clothes. You will be very upset with yourself if you don’t come prepared. And the kids will be heart broken. They are going to Love this experience, really Love it!

This years Theme will be The North Pole meets the Caribbean, or “A Caribbean Christmas”. The Moody Gardens Ice Land sculptures will be developed this year by a World Famous ice sculpting team from Harbin, China. There will be at least eight different scenes of sculpted ice for your families amazement. And you will be amazed! So will the kids.

There are slides for the kids and so many other things to do that this will be one of your family favorite events for this year. Oh yeah, make sure your phone has a full battery, because you will be taking lots of pictures. Text or email a few of the pictures to your friends and family. They will be very envious of you attending Moody Gardens Ice Land.
